Line 18: Trapped in care
The parents of a man with profound autism have told Sky News of their 18-year battle to have their son moved out of a secure hospital. He’s one of thousands of people with a learning disability or autism trapped in institutions known as Assessment & Treatment Units. In the latest of our Line 18 investigations, Sky News has found that in the last three years at least 40 people have died while admitted to these units, which the Government had promised to close.
