Not only is God doing new and exciting things, God is doing these things through us—whether we feel worthy or not! Being made new by God means that every day of life is an adventure waiting to happen. Three Adventurers: • Joshua Slocum • Ryan Brown • Ron Bailey A biblical vision of being made new: 2 Corinthians 4:16: Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. Two Greek (the language of the New Testament) words for new: • NEOS – recent • KAINOS – new in relation to the redemptive activity of God. Not found exactly like this before. 2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! Revelation 21:5 And the one who was seated on the throne said, "See, I am making all things new. We are kainos creations! • Not because we’re fresh enough or perfect enough or because we made the cut. • The good news is that we serve a KAINOS kind of God, who is in the business of making all things new! Luke 5:37: No one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’” But in Greek, this becomes: Luke 5: 37-39 - No one pours NEOS wine into old wineskins. If he does, the NEOS wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, NEOS wine must be poured into KAINOS wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the NEOS, for he says, 'The old is better.' Arthur Stace heard: “Eternity, Eternity, I wish that I could sound or shout that word to everyone in the streets of Sydney.”
