Welcome to Eagle's Landing Griffin's Online Service. The Gospel Changes Everything! Galatians 1:1-10 The word “Gospel” means “The Good News”. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a very SPECIFIC GOOD NEWS. In His book entitled “Gospel", Pastor JD Greear says The Gospel Is Not Just the Diving Board; It’s the Pool We become right with God by trusting in and following Jesus Christ. There is no other way. Galatians 1:6–9 (ESV) 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” 1 Timothy 2:5&6 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. Some consider it hate speech, but the Gospel is the most loving thing you could share with anyone! God HAS provided A way of salvation and that way is ONLY through faith in Christ. That is the Gospel Galatians 1:1–5 Paul, an apostle—not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead— 2 and all the brothers who are with me, To the churches of Galatia: 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. Jesus’ Body was Physically Raised from the Dead Jesus Willingly Gave His Life for Our Sins In John 10:18 — Jesus says this about his life…. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.” This was God’s plan from the beginning THE GOSPEL BEGINS NOW, SALVATION IS NOT JUST A RESCUE FROM HELL WHEN WE DIE Christ not only paid our debt; He also made it possible for us to be free to live the life God created us to live while we remain on the earth. John Bunyan The Gospel frees us from our old self and puts the power of Jesus Christ in us, walking with the Holy Spirit, he frees us to - to forgive others - to Love people that are hard to love - to obey God rather than obeying our flesh - to have lasting joy in any circumstance - to have Confidence - to show compassion - to serve others The Gospel is for God’s Glory Galatians 1:5 to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. Are You Following the Only True Gospel? When we drift from the gospel we drift from God! Listen to what one commentator writes…. I believe Satan operates more effectively through false gospels than through any other avenue. He twists, confuses, and changes the gospel, using philosophy and rule-keeping to put people in mental manacles that blind their eyes to the truth. Behind every false teacher is the ultimate false teacher, Satan, who lives to create confusion and to lock people in spiritual bondage. We add to the Gospel when We say we are saved by Jesus’ Grace plus anything else…. like adding - Being baptized the right way or - taking communion the right way - Reading a particular version of the Bible - Supporting a certain political party - Believing the way I do on particular issues - Stopping certain behaviors - Having a quiet time - Attending a certain kind of church - Giving a 10% tithe Conclusions: First, let’s remember that salvation is ALL of grace. Second, we live to honor the Lord because he already loves us, not so that he will love us.
