In normal years, the market has a “December Slowdown.” This is a time when people are less interested in buying or selling. Homes may sit on the market a little longer and there may even be some bargains. This year, there has been no sign of a slowdown. Homes are still receiving multiple offers and nothing seems to be sitting more than a couple of weeks, if priced correctly. For sellers, this is wonderful news! For buyers, however, this can be very discouraging. Buyers may lose out on dozen houses and may need to adjust their expectations or broaden their search, with no relief in sight. When working to make an offer on a property, there are many tools I use to win a bidding war, which I’ve developed over six years of representing buyers and sellers. Of course, while the offer price is the most attractive item, inspections, financing, down payments, and good communication skills are just as important.
