ARTISTS AND CHURCHES UNITE TO BLESS THE DMV #theblessingdmv Asburn, VA – On Tuesday, November 24, OneHeartDC released a music video entitled ‘The Blessing DMV’. On this Thanksgiving, a time of unprecedented challenges, we express our thankfulness for God’s faithfulness and we encourage people of faith who have been blessed to be blessings to others and the communities they serve. This work was created through a collaboration of over 100 music and multimedia artists from churches and ministries all across Washington, DC, Maryland and northern Virginia (DMV). It represents the kind of love and unity that Jesus talked about in the Bible. “Rarely, if ever has a local group this diverse and of this magnitude and under such circumstances joined together to bless our region in this manner. It celebrates our racial, ethnic and denominational diversities and our unity.” Howie Levin, Executive Director, OneHeartDC The lyrics have a strong biblical foundation based upon the blessing God gave through Aaron to pray over the people of Israel written in Numbers 6:24-26 and a number of other Old and New Testament references. The musical style is powerful with broad appeal and the visuals feature scenes from around the DMV. Based upon an original work "The Blessing" a 2020 GMA Dove Awards Worship Song of the Year winner by Elevation worship, Kari Jobe & Cody Carnes, the project boasts an original soundtrack and an accompanying spoken word piece, composed by Alysia Metallo, Creative Director. She notes, “It was a joy bringing together the passion and creative giftedness of these music and visual media artists who have made this work a true blessing to the DMV." This video marks the sixth year of a growing partnership of over 700 Bible-believing churches and ministries within the OneHeartDC movement (www.oneheartdc.org) who are uniting to transform homes, schools and the streets of the Metro Washington region through the love and message of Jesus Christ. “There is no better time than now to come alongside people and communities who are facing challenging social, emotional, health and resource issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, and racial and political discord.” Brian Bales, Lead Pastor, Christian Fellowship Church and Host of the radio show ‘Good News for the City’ airing on WAVA 105.1 and online (www.goodnewsforthecity.com and favorite podcast outlets). Accompanying the release of the video is “The Blessing DMV Challenge” where over social media people are being challenged to pray for and be blessings to others and asked to challenge others to do the same. The hashtag #theblessingdmvchallenge is being used for this campaign. Some of the many churches and ministries partnering on this project include: Brambleton Presbyterian Church, Bridgeway Community Church, Capital Church, Centreville Baptist Church, Christ Church, Christian Fellowship Church, Citizen Heights Church, Cornerstone Chapel, Church of the Holy Spirit Anglican, David’s Tent DC, Deeper Life Bible Church, Ekklesia USA, First Baptist Church of District Heights, First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, House of David Ministries, King of the Nations Church, Kingdom Fellowship Church AME, Korean Central Presbyterian Church, Landmark Church, Loudoun Burn, Manassas Arabic Church , McLean Bible Church, McLean Presbyterian Church, National Community Church, New Bethel Baptist Church, NOVA House of Prayer, Ohev Y’srael Messianic Jewish Congregation, Prayer for All Nations, Reston Bible Church, River Church, The District Church, The Falls Church, Word of God Church and Prayer Center.
