*LIVESTREAM BETA - TRADITIONAL WORSHIP* Commit to Community | February 21, 2021 | Eric Gerken, Director of Family & Youth Ministry | Prince of Peace Orlando "Being Challenge" sermon series (scroll to see series notes) Our God is a God of relationships. Nowhere is that made more clear than in His sending His only begotten Son in the flesh to be in relationship with people, restoring their relationship with God. You and I were created to be in relationship, in community. In a world filled with loneliness, the challenge, “Committing to Community,” invites us to acknowledge that Jesus didn’t come simply to build relationships with individuals, but He intentionally gathered people together in community: the 12 Disciples; His closest three friends, Peter, James, and John; 72 disciples that He sent out two-by-two to do His work, for example. How is Jesus challenging you and me to commit to community, to find accountability and encouragement, as well as purpose and power to live authentically as the followers of Jesus in our world? * * * * * Eric Gerken, Director of Family & Youth Ministry, is continuing to provide special Children's Messages to help your children better understand the good news of the Gospel! As followers of Jesus we seek to pattern our lives after Him, to be more and more like Him. The “Being Challenge” we are embarking on this Lent invites us to explore five practices of Jesus—keystone habits—practiced by Jesus as He remained in closest communion with His Father: committing to community, studying Scripture, prioritizing prayer, seeking solitude, and choosing church. How can patterning our lives after Jesus in these keystone habits, by the Spirit’s power, draw us into greater relationship with Him?
