Welcome to SOULSCAPES on itoc.ca (now available as an APP as well as online) with your Host, Renata Duma, where we explore what it means to be of Ukrainian heritage in a culturally diverse world. I'm Renata Duma, and it's been my honour to work with a very talented group of individuals in broadcasting, and to have had the privilege of hosting two, prime-time talk shows in the Ukrainian language in Canada, namely "SVITOHLIAD" and "BODY AND SOUL" over a period of 12+ years. I couldn't be more thrilled to have this incredible opportunity to bring you a wide variety of interviews with fascinating individuals on subject matters - that matter most to them, only this time in the English language. And to find out not only WHY those subject matters matter to them so much, but to access the underlying - what I like to call, "SOULSCAPE" - or the reason they are driven - on the deepest level of their soul - to do or create what they do. And more-so, to explore just what kind of "spice" or "colouring" being of Ukrainian heritage has added to not only what they do, but to who they are. ABOUT TED WOLOSHYN: Canadian-Ukrainian broadcaster, Ted Woloshyn, began hosting The Ted Woloshyn Show, mornings, on CFRB in 1996, following in the footsteps of the legendary Wally Crouter, until 2006. His radio career beginnings, however, began in 1974 at CHIC in Brampton, Ontario. Ted then went on to work in Peterborough, Montreal, Hamilton, and then finally, Toronto. He hosted various shows on CBC Television's Toronto affiliate CBLT in the 1980s, including Off the Wol, and It's Only Rock'n Roll. He also worked for Toronto area stations CFNY-FM, CILQ-FM and CKFM-FM. Ted contributed to CBLT's local news program as well as to Midday and The Journal on the full CBC network, and to Global News on the Global Television Network. In 1981, Woloshyn released the comedy album It's Not the Heat...It's the Humility. The following year, he received a Juno Award nomination for Comedy Album of the Year for that comedy album, which we are definitely going to talk about. Most recently, you would have heard Ted on Saturdays with Ted on Newstalk1010 from 2010, up until just this month in 2021, when sadly, he, among 210 other individuals were laid off by Bell Media from its properties across Canada, just one month short of what would have been his 10th anniversary on The Ted Woloshyn Show. I am deeply honoured to have the opportunity to chat with this pillar of Canadian broadcasting and his community. Renata Duma, Host of SOULSCAPES on itoc.ca ABOUT itoc.ca You talk...We Talk...
