What can we all learn from research? And how can it improve our lives? Nhä limurr dhu marŋgithirr dhiyal researchŋur? Ga nhaltjan limurr dhu gumurr-gayanh’thanhamirr dhiyak researchku? Nhäma, Ḻarruŋ, Malŋ'maraŋ. Dharaŋanaraw yuwalk'kun marŋgithinyaraw dhukarrwu. Research: Searching, exploring, discovering. Understanding true knowledge pathways. Strong Yolŋu researchers have worked on important projects over many years in Galiwin'ku. We have discovered deeper understanding of things like health, education, and how to work together - Yolŋu and Yolŋu, Yolŋu and Balanda. We want to make sure these research findings continue to be shared with Yolŋu in Galiwin'ku. Together, we can recognise and build on the past, pass on what we have learned, and find new strengths. Collaboration is a focus of our discussions. Djäma dhu rrambaŋi. Charles Darwin University and Yalu Aboriginal Corporation held Yolŋu Researchers Workshops on Tuesday and Wednesday. We talked about research that has been conducted in Galiwin'ku and how to get the findings out so that everyone can understand and act on them. Experienced and emerging Yolŋu researchers joined in the conversations, which were in Yolŋu Matha (Yolŋu languages). We have started a committee to support future research in Galiwin'ku. The committee will build on what is already grounded here. From this strong foundation, we will guide researchers in a strong process. Through Yalu & Northern Institute social media, we plan to keep sharing dhäwu about research that is important for Yolŋu. Watch this space for more news.
