THE FAMILY OF GOD COMES TOGETHER WELCOME AND OPENING PRAYER Pat Powell ANNOUNCEMENTS CHIMING OF THE HOUR *PRELUDE SCRIPTURE Psalm 23 Pat Powell “This is the Word of God for the people of God.” Thanks be to God. CALL TO WORSHIP Come, walk in green pastures. We follow the Shepherd. Come, lie down in green pastures. We trust the Shepherd. Come, dine at the table of abundance. We are fed by the Shepherd. Come, dwell in God’s house. We live in the Shepherd’s care. *HYMN “O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing” UMH #57, v. 1, 2, 4, 7 O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise, The glories of my God and King, The triumphs of His grace! My gracious Master and my God, Assist me to proclaim, To spread through all the earth abroad the honors of Thy name. He breaks the power of canceled sin, He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me. In Christ, your head, You then shall know, Shall feel your sins forgiven; Anticipate your heaven below, And own that love is heaven. WE PRAY AS A CHURCH FAMILY PASTORAL PRAYER Rev. Brent Porterfield THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. *AFFIRMATIONS FROM 1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-6 AND COLOSSIANS 1:15-20 {UMH #888} This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved: Christ died for our sins, was buried, was raised on the third day, And appeared first to the women, then to Peter and the Twelve, And then to many faithful witnesses. We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One of God, The firstborn of all creation, the firstborn from the dead, In Whom all things hold together, in Whom the fullness of God was pleased to dwell by the power of the Spirit. Christ is the head of the body, the church, And by the blood of the cross reconciled all things to God. Amen. *GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen. HYMN “Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us” UMH #381, v. 1, 3, 4 Savior, like a shepherd lead us, Much we need Thy tender care; In Thy pleasant pastures feed us, For our use Thy folds prepare. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast bought us, Thine we are. Blessed Jesus, blesses Jesus! Thou hast bought us, Thine we are. Thou hast promised to receive us, Poor and sinful though we be; Thou hast mercy to relieve us, Grace to cleanse and power to free. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! We will early turn to Thee! Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! We will early turn to Thee. Early let us seek Thy favor, Early let us to Thy will; Blessed Lord and only Savior, With Thy love our bosoms fill. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast loved us, love us still. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast loved us, love us still. BLESSING OF THE PRAYER SHAWLS Rev.
