On 15th September, the retailer giant launched its first virtual job fair to hire 15,000 employees in Canada. In an interview, Amazon's Vice President of Human Development, Ardine Williams has said that the Company has a job for just about anyone. The global Company is upping the starting wage for its Canadian employees on the front line to somewhere between $17 and $21.65 per hour. The current starting wage of employees is about $16 an hour, making this a raise of between 6.25 to 35.3 per cent on the current base wages. For Software engineers the average salary is about $60.00 per hour. As vaccination rates rise and the Canadian economy recovers, the country is seeing huge job growth and opportunities for new Canadians and temporary foreign workers.
