The job of a journalist in the field has always been a difficult - and dangerous - one - but new figures from the Committee to Protect Journalists make interesting reading. While the number of male journalists killed in the line of duty has fallen, the number of women journalists killed has risen. 2017 also saw a record number of journalists being detained. In September 2017 a prominent Indian journalist, Gauri Lankesh, was killed outside her home. She had edited a newspaper critical of Hindu extremism. BBC presenter spoke to Anoo Bhuyan, a journalist with the Indian online newspaper, "The Wire", based in Delhi, about the situation In India.
