A deleted scene from my short Thlípsi that never made it into the final cut of the film. Over the past month I decided to use a prompt from my sound class, which basically detailed taking a scene and re-designing its sound composition entirely. When we originally shot this scene it was like 4 or 5AM in Times Square in the middle of a February. And as surprisingly empty as it waa, wind, traffic, and tons of other garbage background noise became factors that overwhelmed our barebones sound recording set-up... so this scene really couldn't have been saved back at the time and we discarded it for the final release. But yeah about a month ago I decided to ADR it and take the entire sequence back into post-production, and I can now proudly state that this scene in itself is closest to what my original (and initial) vision of the film was supposed to look, feel, and sound like. Despite it all being shot over two and a half years ago now in the midst of my own production incompetence that I've detailed in the past, I still fuck with this whole project. It, and this scene in particular, is a large sum of my inspiration from Vanilla Sky and Blade Runner 2049... and oddly enough Mr. Robot although I hadn't seen the show for another year and a half after shooting this to realize its parallels. Anyhow, this is kinda small, but it's a world I hope to revisit someday in feature format, and I want to give another big thanks to anyone and everyone who helped make this movie possible in one way or another.
