Check out this passage from Ephesians…. For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles— 2Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you, 3that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. 4In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. 6This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus. 7I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. 8Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, 9and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. - Eph 3:1-12 Christ reveals the mystery… 1-That God’s always been with us (v.5 & v. 9). The intention of love that was fulfilled in the person of Jesus wasn’t something concocted at the last minute, like, God didn’t know what else to do, so he sent his son to enter into the world and die for people. No, the intention of love has always been to give itself away, to be patient, to endure, to constantly be creative and pro-creative. The person of Jesus reveals this to be the case. Love gives and forgives, again and again. That’s always been the hope. Jesus reveals it in a very unique way. But, you and I get to reveal it in unique ways too. (We are all little incarnations of the divine.) So, how are you revealing love? How is love working its way out in specific and particular ways in your life? Or, how are you frustrating love’s attempts to work itself out in specific and particular ways? 2-And that God is even with “the Gentiles,” for the Hebrews in Paul’s day, the word Gentile was a general word used to reference all non-Jewish people (v.6). This is great news! No more “dividing walls.” We’re all one. The mystery revealed here isn’t that God likes the Jewish people better than Gentiles. God likes everyone. How about in your life? Who are you tempted to think God likes more than others? How does that play out in your life? What are you doing to reflect that, no, in fact, God loves everyone? 3-That God is with us now (v.10) right here in the present. In fact, this is one of Jesus’ main messages: the kingdom of God is available to you right now. It’s not something that one is supposed to believe so that when they leave this world (e.g., the now) they have life, but rather they can have life right now. What kind of life do you think Jesus was interested in people having? What kind of life do you have? Are you tapping into it now? Or are you waiting? What does that say about you? 4-That the mystery revealed in Christ has some kind of impact in spaces and places beyond our normal sensory perception (v.11). This is pretty cool. Idk know exactly what I believe about what is going on after this life, but I do, by faith, believe that love has influenced all things. Jesus reveals the love of the Christ that (according to Paul) has eternal implications. Is this helpful? Not helpful? Why or why not?
