YouthLink has moved our What's up? Walk In. coucelling sessions online. The existence of risk and crisis management procedures is integral to the safe operation of YouthLink’s programs and services during this unprecedented pandemic. The goal of YouthLink’s pandemic plan is to minimize the potential risks to the day-to-day functioning of the agency and outline the procedures that will reduce the impact of a pandemic on the agency’s ability to fulfill its mission of providing services to youth & families. Objectives of YouthLink’s Pandemic plan will mitigate health & safety risks for staff during a pandemic, mitigate health & safety risks for clients & their families, and develop plans to maintain services, to the extent possible, during a pandemic During an event of this nature YouthLink recognizes that our client populations will be at heightened risk and as such will endeavor to maintain YouthLink’s core services. It is not an option to close our youth shelters, transition homes or, our residential treatment centres and put vulnerable youth back on the streets. Dedicated YouthLink staff and managers are continuing to operate essential services risking their own health. We will endeavour to maintain our services for youth at our:  Residence  Warden Emergency Shelter and Transitional Home  Co-op Houses The health of our community and our country is paramount and is receiving global attention however, during these times the mental health of our youth also requires more attention than ever. Their symptoms can be amplified by isolation and fear brought on by the global pandemic. To respond to client needs our outreach teams and Walk-In clinic counsellors are breaking new ground in providing confidential services by video-conference and phone. Using an innovative approach and leading edge technologies we have been able to implement virtual walk-in counselling services for vulnerable youth.
